Seasons For Growth

One student's feedback on the program.

My “bad experience” started when I was about 5 and continued until Christmas I told some of my high school teachers and they thought it would be a good idea to participate in a program called “The Seasons for Growth”. This program is based around the four seasons:

- WINTER
- SUMMER
- SPRING
- AUTUMN

We were given booklets to work through and we would spend three or four sessions working through each season. I thought the main aim of this program was to help kids who have been through a difficult situation to deal with the changes of not only their life but changes in seasons as well.

As a result of participating in The Seasons, I put together a workshop that has only been done with Years 7 and 8 at my high school. After they had done the workshop, we asked them what their thoughts were on it and we got feedback like:

- “It was good to learn about and I learnt heaps.”

- “It was a big thing to come and talk to people about it because it takes a lot of work but I liked it.”

- “It was okay and it helped me understand better.”

- “It will help a lot of kids to get through their problems.”

- “It helped and I learnt a bit and it showed not everyone who has a bad experience, has a bad ending, etc.”

Doing “Seasons for Growth” has helped me deal with a lot of personal issues and without it I would be completely different today.
