Lavalla Catholic College is located in the Latrobe Valley, approximately 150 km southeast of Melbourne. Spread across three campuses in Traralgon and Newborough, the college serves the educational needs of over 1,400 students from Years 7-12.
The college motto, Strong Minds and Compassionate Hearts', encapsulates its mission to be committed to the holistic growth of the young people in the community. Underpinning the mission is the belief in the value and potential of each individual and the desire to build a vibrant community.

Observations on MindMatters Plus and its impact on St. Paul’s campus of Lavalla Catholic College.
Lavalla began its commitment to MindMatters as a curriculum resource to strengthen mental health for all students in 2002. In 2003, recognising a gap in service to those students with higher support needs it registered an interest in MindMatters Plus.
Pastoral Care – Polaroid Madness
"Students from Year 7.1 and 7.4 went on a retreat to Victory Park last Tuesday called “Polaroid Madness”. It was for the Pastoral care Program run at our school and our 'buddies' from Year 9 came with us and helped us with the tasks and activities."
Transition Processes at Lavalla.
To ensure a smooth transition from Primary to Secondary school, Lavalla undertakes a team approach with Primary schools, parents and perspective students. Lavalla offers parent and student information evenings regarding subject choices and career pathways.
